Lúcia Góes

Everyone who has been here had at least once in their lifetime come across the beautiful laminated paper and posters our teachers have printed for; however, did you know that it is handmade by Lúcia Góes? In this article, you will get to know more about her and her history here at EAC.

Lúcia was born in Minas Gerais, and at a very young age, she came to the interior of São Paulo. Approximately at the age of 16-17, she reached Campinas to work as a nanny for 9 years, it was there where her love story with Luís Carlos began, at that time, he already worked and lived at the school. She had an aunt who worked around here in the neighborhood, so she met him in the “pracinha” and started dating. Around 3 years of dating, they got married, and interestingly enough, their wedding party was here at the school in the elementary pavilion, it was then that she started living at EAC, where there was already a school. On Halloween, the 31st of October, it has been 41 years since they got married, fast-forward 1 year in their marriage, she got pregnant with Leo.

Staying around at school, she did a lot of things in order to help out, for example, helping her mother-in-law who also lived here. According to her, it was really nice to live in the same environment where she worked, Leo started school at the age of 4, and Juliana Dalmolin was his teacher. Subsequently, she worked for 1 year as an assistant since, at that time, the school was in a certain financial difficulty and they needed the mothers to be able to help, so she stayed here helping at the school as a volunteer, she made food for the teachers and when the mothers couldn’t pick up the children on time, they stayed with her, and since her house was where the library is now, the mothers would call and the children would stay with her until they could get them, therefore everything was easier.

Finally, in 1998, on the day she turned 40, the vacancy came up in xerox, and this year it = completes 25 years that she’s been working there. In her opinion, working here is amazing, being able to help people in this enjoyable environment, and above all, having the opportunity to see all the children who she has encountered throughout the years all grown up already.

Now focusing on the development of the school, in her point of view it was necessary, everything has changed a lot; however it is a normal evolution, while there are things that improved, there are also things that became more difficult, nevertheless, she thinks it was essential for the growth of EAC. Several things have changed through the years, for instance, due to the fact that previously there were fewer people studying here, that made the school in a way cozier, everyone was more like a society. In the old days, mothers helped out a lot at school, on Halloween they made pies, on game days they made Hot Dogs and sold them to raise money for Prom. However, with that said, it’s also important to say that as EAC has grown so much, there have been changes, like everything else in life.

As for the future of EAC, she thinks it is all about growth and everything will be in accordance with time, there is always the possibility of growing more, and having more interaction, so it will be a different future from what we saw in the past, which will be something better for school.

EAC is family.

– Lúcia Góes

If she had the opportunity to share something with EAC that she learned in her life would be to always give, participate, and always give your best for everyone, in order for you to learn to share. Another thing is that working at the school was an excellent thing in her life, and she works at the school with the greatest love in the world. More than half of her life, 40 years, was spent living and experiencing the development of the school. She says that we have to value the school a lot, that one day we will miss it here. The people who pass by here, leave a lot of love and take it too, most of the school life is passed through these same corridors. The union we form here we have for a lifetime, for example, Luis Carlos studied here and has friends from over 50 years ago. The student’s goal is to carry what they learned here with them for the rest of their lives, not just academically, but through the relationships and friendships that were built here. She asks us not to forget them, she has a huge affection for the school and that everything she built and owns, she, her husband, and her son owes it to EAC. She is immensely proud to have worked at the school and grateful to have lived most of her life here in this beautiful community. “EAC é familia”, she says.
