The Inclusive School week is an annual event sponsored by the ISN (Inclusive School Network) and it happens in the first week of December. The Inclusive School Week started in 2001 and it was created to commemorate the progress that schools have made in their education quality to an increasingly diverse number of students. This includes students who are marginalized because of some complications, this includes disabilities, gender, socio-economic status, cultural heritage, language preference and some other factors. It is a great opportunity also for parents and educators to discuss what else can be improved in order to progress even more.
In 2022, the theme of the Inclusive School Week is “Unity Within our Community” and will happen between December 5-9. The theme hides the idea of how the world needs to be united and connected to survive and progress. This consolidates the idea that united communities or groups will remain strong even when facing problems or going through threats and danger. This theme brings a lot of reflection to the people, it makes us think how important it is to be united and to be connected at the same time. Union is a key idea to make the world a better place, nothing is possible without giving hands and working together, that is the only way we can improve. This includes progress and evolution in the education system and in the social life of students. Education has been constantly changing and new methods are being developed so students can have a better learning experience. The social life of students is a key point too, a stable social life helps in their education and make them feel more comfortable at school. It is very important to discuss topics such as unity and connection in the education system, which is a good theme for the Inclusive School Week to work on.
