On February 24th, the world woke up with the shocking news that Russia’s Vladimir Putin had decided to invade one of Russia’s neighboring countries, Ukraine, which obviously caused an uproar in media disclosure. Still, it seems that since then a lot of people have forgotten about the war that’s going on in eastern Europe. In reality, the fighting continues in the region and seems like it’s far from coming to a close. On Monday, May 30th, the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip, told Putin that he is willing to help Russia in order to put an end to this war. Along with that, Zelensyy, the Ukrainian president, declared that the war would only end in a battleground. He believes that the stubbornness of both sides wouldn’t be able to come up with a verbally negotiating. In regards to the warfare position, Russian troops eventually gave up on conquering the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Instead, they are focusing on encircling and invading cities in eastern Ukraine.
Overall, the world has been supporting Ukraine, as shown by the number of countries that have sent military aid to them, including Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Romania, and Sweden (which is not a part of NATO), Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and finally the United States (Aljazeera). Regarding the countries that are supporting Russia, the only country that has helped them so far is their neighboring country, Belarus. Belarus has allowed Russian troops to enter Ukraine through their territory, which facilitates the Russian invasion in north Ukraine, which is very near Kyiv. Regardless of this help from Belarus, Russian troops were not able to reach and conquer the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. When it comes to the overall victories and defeats of the war, there hasn’t really been any major position of victory or defeat. Other than a small victory that Ukraine had in Russia ultimately not being able to reach Kyiv, nobody is winning the war. Russian troops have not conquered anything of great significance, while the Ukrainians aren’t winning either since their county is currently occupied by another.

In conclusion, it seems that a lot of people have assumed that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine had come to an end when in reality this tragedy is still going on with no significant change from when it started. Still, we have to be thankful that Putin has not gone to the extreme of dropping an atomic bomb on Ukraine, which would end the conflict very tragically.
