EAC is coming in with a very impressive Basketball program this year, with great results and lots of new members to the team. At this point, there were a total of 6 games including male and female who have the JV and Varsity teams. The results go as following:
- Girls basketball: 14×24 VS Graded
- Boys basketball: 20×29 VS Graded
- JV Girls: C 21 x 13 EAC VS Chapel
- JV Boys: C 30 x 33 EAC VS Chapel
- Varsity Girls: C 14 x 18 EAC VS Chapel
- Varsity Boys: C 38 x 21 EAC VS Chapel
Highlight of the games
One of the most impressive matches was the boys’ JV against Chapel, which included great depth, three-pointers, and good defense. During the first half EAC dominated by pushing the defense, involving full-court pressure. However, in the second half Chapel started to close the gap with fast and precise cuts to the basket, but it wasn’t enough to beat EAC. In this game, the leading scorers for EAC included Lucca Miranda with 9 points and Pedro Franco with 14, both representing 9th grade in this game. After the game According to Vinicius Angeloni, the shooting guard of the team stated “It was a great game! The Trojans were good opponents, but overall we are happy to win such an important game, which gave us confidence for the following.” This match was the first win for EAC in the tournament in an away game.
The Varsity girls also had an important win against Chapel in the same week, where it displayed greater improvement of the team. EAC maintained the lead throughout the first half, but Chapel came out in the second half with a different game plan by pressuring the defense a lot more. In the end, EAC was able to maintain the lead by moving the ball a lot in transition, having a score of 21 x 13.
Both coaches who were representing EAC, Gabriel and Luccas were very proud of the team after the win. As Bruno stated ” we gave our all out there” showing the competitiveness of the team this year.
New Rules:
This year the JV teams include players that were born in 2006 before August, getting even more strength to the teams, also a different approach to the level of the competition. More players can get the opportunity to experience competition, sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Timing of games
- In varsity games, the game time is divided in the normal format of 4 quarters of 8 minutes
- JV has a new format of 2 halves of 15 min.
- A friendly quarter can be included in the game so that younger players get the opportunity to get playing time.
